The Rise & Rise of the Welfare State

In 1965, only 3% of the Australian working age population relying on government welfare.

Since then, inflation adjusted incomes have more than doubled.

So you would expect the number of people who need welfare to go down, right? After all, we are all twice as rich as we were back then!

Reliance on government welfare has now increased to a staggering 22% of the population - and keeps going up and up and up!

Does no-one else see a serious problem with this?

(Thanks to our Deputy Director John Humphreys for finding the stats)
