Australia on the Path to European Big Government

The 2015 - 2016 Mid Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook is a cause for concern.

Senior research fellow Mikayla Novak released a statement today that it "fails to reduce wasteful and excessive government spending."  Instead of cutting down expenditure as promised, over-budgeted payments have increased by $16.2 billion from 2014 to 2015.

Increasing government intervention from "compulsory superannuation, workers compensation and health mandates" means Australia is not a "low tax country."

She notes that the $37.4 billion deficit shows "just how much more the government can do to reduce expenditure."

It's time for Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison to live up to their promises of an improved fiscal budget.
