Bligh government spent $1000 to fix toilet seat

This story is a couple of months old, and I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't published on April 1, or was from a satirical newspaper, but no, it turns out to be 100% legit.

The Queensland Bligh Government spent over $1000 on... wait for it ... a toilet seat.

That's right, a toilet seat:

While toilet seats sell for as little as $6 at Bunnings, Ms Darling's department splashed out nearly 170 times that amount to mend the Cabinet member's personal water closet.

So exclusive is the lavish lavatory fitted in the minister's office that only one supplier of its hydraulic soft-close seat could be located in Queensland.

And that's not all! The Bligh Government also "spent $93 on a toilet roll holder and $255 on a waste bin during the $600,000 upgrade of a minister's office."

And people wonder why the QLD budget is in the state it is...
