It all started when…

In 2011 Tim Andrews founded the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance in response to the proposed introduction of a Carbon Tax in addition to the growing burden placed on the shoulders of Australian taxpayers. The ATA has been on a mission to minimise tax, regulation and government waste ever since.

The Tim Andrews Essay Prize seeks to highlight and encourage young essayists by seeking submissions from writers aged 16 to 25 living in Australia. Awarded by the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance, the prize includes publication, a $500 bursary and the opportunity of an internship at the ATA. Entrants are encouraged to imagine bold futures for themselves and society exploring themes such as politics, economics, culture, individual freedom, and public policy.

The theme for the current round of submissions is:

How will Australia’s Covid Response be Judged by History?

The deadline for submissions for the current round is October 31st 2021. The competition is open to all Australian residents aged between 16 and 25.

To be included in the current round of submissions, please use the following form to indicate your interest and a team member will be in touch.

Competition is open to all Australian residents aged between 16 and 25 (inclusive) at the close of submissions. Employees and family members of the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance and subsidiary organisations are ineligible to enter.
