With the federal budget on the horizon, the ATA has some demands of the government.

Following the COVID-19 crisis, the Australian government has undertaken unprecedented spending trying to keep our economy afloat. At the same time, our public debt has sky-rocketed and business potential is suppressed by needless lockdowns, harsh border restrictions, sky-high taxation and endless red tape. The government is throwing money at the problems they’re causing, and it must stop.

Our government’s spending spree must end, focusing instead on helping create an economy that can flourish without the need for subsidies. Widespread regulatory and tax relief are not only desirable but necessary. We can’t spend our way to prosperity. This is why we ask you to support our petition to create a self-sufficient economy.

These are our demands for the upcoming federal budget:

  1. End Draconian Laws: Severe lock-downs and border closures have stifled Australia’s economic recovery. Small businesses and good jobs have been eradicated due to the overreactions of public officials. Businesses should be able to count on an open economy. Every state must stop Australia’s draconian approach to COVID-19.

  2. Slash Regulations: Small businesses cannot thrive with endless red tape tying them down. For a dynamic and innovative recovery to occur, the government needs to get out of the Australian peoples’ way and allow us to do what we know is best for our businesses and employees. The next budget must include significant and unprecedented reductions in regulation.

  3. Cut our Taxes: The Australian Government constantly finds new and creative ways to take our money and even more creative ways of wasting it. To get our economy back on track, Aussies must keep more of the money they worked hard to earn. We demand significant, across-the-board tax cuts for Australian workers and small businesses.

  4. End feel-good policies: Now is not the time for moral posturing and feel-good initiatives. The economy has just begun to recover, and expensive environmental and social policies are already in the talks. We need to focus on what matters right now: building a more robust economy and exploring long-term measures to protect us from similar crises in the future.

We call on the government to deliver a federal budget that creates a business-friendly, self-sufficient economy for all Australians. If you support this cause, sign the petition now!
