Tim Andrews - founder & President

Tim Andrews is the Founder and President of the Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance. He holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Sydney. He is a Director of the Australian Libertarian Society and Co-Convenor of the Friedman Conference, the largest libertarian conference in the Asia-Pacific Region, a member of the UK Taxpayers Alliance Advisory Council, and a member of the The Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Organisation Advisor Board.

 
John Humphreys, Chief Economist

Dr John Humphreys - chief economist

John Humphreys has been involved in the ATA from its inception, and came on as the Chief Economist in 2021. He is a former analyst with the Australian Treasury, lecturer at the University of Queensland, and economic consultant who has worked on projects for the World Bank, ASEAN, and industry groups. He was the founder and national president of the Liberal Democrats (now Libertarian Party), the Friedman Conferences, and a research centre & education charity in Cambodia. Dr Humphreys has a PhD in economics from University of Queensland.

 

Gene Tunny

Gene Tunny is Director of Adept Economics, Adjunct Fellow at the Centre for Independent Studies, and co-host of the “Death & Taxes” Podcast. He is a former Australian Treasury official who has managed teams in Treasury’s Industry and Budget Policy divisions. Gene is a regular economics commentator in Australian and international media. In late 2018, his book Beautiful One Day, Broke the Next: Queensland’s Public Finances Since Sir Joh and Sir Leo was published by Connor Court. He has a first class honours degree in economics from the University of Queensland. Gene is the current President of the Economic Society of Australia (QLD).

Brian Marlow

Brian Marlow is the Director of Legalise Vaping Australia, which is an ATA campaign to legalise life-saving vaping technology in Australia. Brian has worked in grassroots campaigning since 2015 at both the state and federal level. Brian has been interviewed by major national news sources in Australia including the SBS and ABC, as well as countless international newspapers, radio and television stations.
